Ronn Guidi’s Nutcracker Celebrates its 35th Anniversary

OAKLAND, Calif. (December 1, 2007) – Ronn Guidi’s Nutcracker has been enchanting audiences of all ages for 35 years, and it will light up Oakland’s holiday season again on December 21-24.

Celebrate the holiday magic of this heartwarming Nutcracker at the historic Paramount Theatre in downtown Oakland as the Oakland Ballet Company continues its renaissance under the artistic direction of Ronn Guidi. Michael Morgan will be conducting members of the Oakland East Bay Symphony for all performances.

Filled with stunning costumes and sets complete with a growing tree, Ronn Guidi’s Nutcracker is a beloved treasure. Guidi’s commitment to bring ballet back to Oakland began with the successful return of Ronn Guidi’s Nutcracker last December. In October, the Oakland Ballet Company made its official return to the Paramount stage with a highly acclaimed performance before an enthusiastic and delighted audience.

This season Chevron and the Ronn Guidi Foundation will present six performances of this holiday tradition. Target is the sponsor of the Family Matinee on December 24. Local celebrities will join in on the fun for All-Star Night on December 22.

Chevron is also donating 4,000 tickets for the season to ensure that underserved families are able to attend the performances. Other major sponsors include the Piedmont Post; The San Francisco Foundation; the City of Oakland Cultural Funding Program; and Clorox.

The Ronn Guidi Foundation is currently conducting a fundraising campaign to raise $350,000 to help cover production costs of the upcoming performances including Ronn Guidi’s Nutcracker and for May 2008.
